| Quality Overview The quality of our labels is paramount to Blue Ribbon Label. Since many of our customers are in the pharmaceutical industry, a label error could result in a huge and costly recall. We are proud of our pristine record in this industry. In fact, our perfection in the pharmaceutical industry has set the standard for all of our labels. Our quality assurance program ensures our labels will meet expectations, which leads to customer satisfaction. To assure continuous quality, Blue Ribbon Label adopted a Quality Security & Accountability Control (QSAC) program that meets federal standards for labeling drugs, food and cosmetics products. In fact, our QSAC program applies to all labels we produce. Following these guidelines, we have maintained a 100% perfect track record. QSAC begins with customer approval of materials for the labels, which are checked to make sure they meet specifications. Customers approve artwork before plates are made, including reviewing all text that will be printed on the label. On press, a “make-ready” sample is examined by the Plant Manager, who checks the quality of the plates and the color match. Every 8,000 feet, an abrasion test is performed on the ink, and the drying lamps are scrutinized. Press personnel inspect the labels under strobe lights and flag any ink problems so those labels can be destroyed. |
Depending on the customer’s needs, the finished labels pass through one to three inspection stations where strobe lights “freeze” every label. Imperfections, from a slight smudge to a broken letter, are picked out and the offending label is replaced. The final station also verifies the accuracy of the count. |
